How Important Are You?

I recently sat in my amazing Hair Stylist's ( Mel) chair in her home studio and as she balayaged my hair I poised ideas about life and motherhood. She has been my amazing friend throughout this transformation to setting up my own Lactation Consulting Practice and lifestyle blog community. We talked about the importance of art and how our society often shuffles artists and their art off into a corner of little to no importance. However, we both agreed that we couldn't do life without being creative. "You know, a part of me dies if I'm not expressing myself", I said as she washed my color off and I transformed into a new piece of art that she was creating. "We think that art doesn't matter, but think about it. Did you choose your outfit when you woke up this morning? How about the color of your car? We live in art every day and without it our life ceases to have meaning.
Another point that came up as I stared back at my ever changing reflection in the mirror was when Mel said, "We all seem to be running around after school going to college, feeling the pressure to conform that we don't go off to be who we really are. " It takes courage to be an artist, to express who you are deep inside. This can take many forms as well. Most people believe artists are all creatives who live off in another sphere somewhere. The truth is that we are all artists, if we are alive we create things every day. As mothers we are the original creators and how we chose to piece our lives together each day is art at it's finest. I also pondered during our sit down and chat throughout my appointment that maybe instead of striving to become something in the distant future, it is better to wake up and to get ready into the person that you are today. Then the things that we are striving for will instead fall into place. That certainly has been what has happened to me as I've increased my self care as a mother.
This is my hope and dream for this community on here. That it would be a haven for mothers and fathers and caregivers to come to and peruse the various resources that we offer so that they can make their lives better and to create a better existence for their families. We call our resident members Mamma Lifestyle Gurus and Mamma Lifestyle artists because they are both and they are here to help you create the magic that you want to experience in your life. I want to help others to not just survive motherhood and parenthood, but to thrive in it. So, come along and enjoy some vlogs, blogs and podcast so you can Get Ready With Me Mamma!!!!
