Getreadywithmemamma Morton Arboretum Illumination!!! Let there be light! So often I find it hard to get into the Christmas spirit when it starts. It normally has been fall for ages and normally I’m rushing around trying to get things done in the fall and then boom it’s Christmas season. It’s hard to find flow into it seems. Brad and I also find it hard to be finally motivated to put our outdoor lights up and to bundle up and to go and get the tree. Don’t get me wrong, we love both of these things it’s just often feels like such an undertaking to get going and to actually do them. We accomplished both this week and found two new traditions. One is finding our new Christmas tree farm in Aurora, IL. It’s a frozen field of tundra mixed in with just about the right amount of snow and frozen puddles to make the effort as challenging as the movie “Christmas Vacation” and the boys had so much fun tumbling around finding our perfect tree in the frozen muck. Natalie is too young to understand just why we are lugging her around to these places. When we bundled her up today to go to my favorite Chicago family spot I could see her expression as we drove away in her car seat mirror, “where are they taking me”? Oh Natalie, one day your little eyes will light up with glee as you realize where we are voyaging on these cold winter days. For now, my little bundle got to enjoy Grandma snuggles with my Mom as we strolled around the magical gardens in the dark and cold. We got to snuggle by a fire for a breastfeeding break which comforted Natalie and put her in a cheery mood as we enjoyed the rest of the evening out. It’s not every day that you get to snuggle three generations of strong women by a fire. Tonight, I enjoyed being out with my Mamma in the grandness of the lights of the season🎄🎉💕❤️.
