Getreadywithmemamma get woke. Are you woke? Does this phrase make sense to you? Do you know what I mean when I say it? There’s a reason that we love that place between dreams and reality. That magical time just before you open your eyes for the day. As Mammas any time that we are sleeping is magical. Woke is that time when you arise from a place as magical as dreaming. It is the beginning of empowerment and it is the sense that you are onto something new, something deep, something important. More importantly, woke is the step in the direction out of pain, depression, anxiety, or being overwhelmed. It’s when you realize that you can take the reins of your own life again with a little help from the sanctity of the spiritual realm. We all have them those little Aha moments thank you Oprah. When our guts talk to us and more importantly call to ya and tell us to remember who we are. It’s different for everyone. It could be as magical as a mountain top experience like looking out at “The Grand Canyon”, or graduating from college, or watching your own children graduate from college. It could be as simple as buying yourself some milkduds at a movie theater and slipping into the cloak of the dark room to dream with the artists of our time. It could be cleaning up your last nighttime nappy as your youngest is potty trained. You read that right, I said nappy I steal things from the British like words when I want to. It is that moment and so often as Mammas we shy away from them. We make excuses. We live in the shadows, or turbulence of our own lives. Basking in the darkness wallowing away at emotional pain, or standing directly into its streams taking the waves for our family. Either way, it’s no way to live. You need to take care of yourself so that you can take care of others. Put that on a post it note and put it on your bathroom mirror. I mean it. Do it because we forget. We forget and we go back to the shadows and the turbulence. Guess what? There are tiny eyes that are watching you we learn by what we see not by what people tell us. What do you want those little eyes to see you wallowing away under the waves of live, or you rising above.
